DJ set by Dj Falafel + Qusay Awad

wednesday 11 June, from 8 PM to midnight @Fondazione Merz / Parcheggio Lancia

the event is part of an evening celebrating the 20th anniversary of Fondazione Merz, alongside the opening of the exhibitions Mario Merz Prize 5. Shortlist art exhibition and Mio caro padrone domani ti sparo

The DJ set will feature Midhat Husseini, also known as DJ Falafel (Jerusalem), whose project blends powerful beats with the symbolic flavours of falafel – a tribute to his Palestinian identity. For him, music is a way to share, bringing people together to celebrate, dance, and enjoy. His sound is a journey through cultures and traditions: a mix of Arabic music, the hypnotic rhythms of Gnawa, the explosive energy of Dabke, and the deep bass of Middle Eastern bass music.

Joining him is Qusay Awad, also known as Qكيو (Syria/Berlin), a multidisciplinary artist and creative DJ. Deeply passionate about dance music, Qusay combines his vibrant style with experimental sounds and rhythms. His work reflects a personal and queer vision, reclaiming space and freedom through music. Rooted in his cultural heritage, he plays an active role in the Syrian diaspora, fostering collaboration and building a sense of community.
