Must the city and its heritage die?

From the urbicide of Gaza to the neoliberal city that excludes dissent and entire sections of the population from its public spaces. Gaza is a laboratory for the way we live and now compels us to reflect on the paradigms upon which human history has been built, and to rewrite a grammar of living together — human and non-human alike. Gaza, like all other places affected by conflict.

These are the themes that will open a reflection and conversation between Paola Caridi, journalist and writer, and Lina Attalah, one of Egypt’s most influential and widely listened-to intellectuals, journalist, and co-founder and editor-in-chief of Mada Masr, the country’s only truly independent and free editorial project.

The conversation will be followed by a screening of Tahrir Liberation Square, introduced by director and documentary filmmaker Stefano Savona, whose background is in anthropology and archaeology. The film, a chronicle of the Egyptian revolution, was awarded the David di Donatello and the Nastro d’Argento.
