Inspired by the exhibition dedicated to Mario and Marisa Merz, the programme explores and develops the geometric forms of the works on display, translating them into a temporal dimension.

The concert opens with a clarinet version of a Suite for solo cello by J.S. Bach, followed by virtuosic pieces for solo clarinet by B. Kovacs, inspired by the music of great composers such as De Falla and by the folk traditions of Eastern Europe.

The versatility of the clarinet also allows for a jazz influence, heard in a piece by Kupferman.

The programme concludes with a world premiere by Willy Merz, written especially for this event, combining the lyrical quality of the clarinet with refined timbral textures and an unusual use of the piano’s registers.
